Kampala’s young corporates descended onto Barbecue Lounge last Thursday evening to toast to the opening of the bar’s VIP Lounge. And for those who thought live music was too boring to dance, think again.

Thanks to the Barbed Wire Thong band, patrons who included Elly Karuhanga and Captain Mike Mukula, were on their toes dancing to Tabuley’s 1970s classic Sina Makosa.

And if you thought Ragga D had lost his touch, you are mistaken. He is still one of the best stage performers amid the fast rising number of Uganda’s musicians. With the help of the Barbed Wire Thong band, Ragga D pulled off a thundering live performance that got everyone at the party onto their feet and dancing to his rhymes.

He added a touch of Lingala and Congolese tunes to all his songs and when he stealthily jumped off stage, the guests were left asking for more.

Beer and wine was in plenty as well as enough barbecued meat on offer.
