It is now official. Uganda will represent Africa Zone V in this year’s All Africa Games due in Maputo, Mozambique in September.
This follows Kenya withdrawal of their U-23 soccer team from the final qualifier with many of their federation officials describing the task to overturn a 5-1 first leg defeat in Nairobi 9 days ago as a daunting one. The return leg was due in Nambole on Saturday.
Kenya Football Limited chief executive Joseph Agola told Vision Sport in a telephone conversation that after a meeting to brainstorm over the match, they decided to withdraw the team.
Without divulging much details of their decision, Agola blamed logistical difficulties for their move.
