Daphne Ahimbisibwe, a third year student at Kyambogo University was yet another lucky girl chosen to go meet and chill with super comedian Daniel Omara aka Odoch of The Hostel fame.

They chit-chatted over drinks at Kyoto Restaurant at Centenary Park. DUNCAN KUSHABAtalked to Daphne about transpired.

I like it when I put a smile on a pretty girl’s face.

Indeed, you just made my day. But do you call every girl pretty?

Certainly not. Only those who deserve my encomium.

What is that supposed to mean. I mean the word…enco-what?

Encomium, yes. That word is the technical meaning of ‘compliment’.

Oh! Thanks to your well-read brains.

So, getting into it; why this Omara of all the comedians we have around?

Hey, he is not just comic; he is an intelligent species of comedians. He is the type who will joke and you will only get the joke when you get home.

He actually makes so many people look foolish because his jokes are so intellectual. You cannot compare him with the other comedians.

Somehow, he is always spot on and his articulation and symbolism are unbelievable. Something always told me he was well-read. For that, I always craved to meet him in person.

What was it like meeting him?

I am sort of confused but happy. He told me jokes of all sorts that got me thinking: is he really hitting on me or he is just being funny? But that is all good.

Hmmmm, seems like you have the hearts for the man. Do you?

The hearts for him? No way. You are misreading the whole thing.

Yes I am…I guess, but sorry. Something tells me he is single from your kind of talk.

Yes, he is single. I did not see any ring on his finger. I mean he just finished his bachelor’s degree in education at Uganda Christian University, Mukono and, by the way, I just finished the same course too. So, we have something in common. Isn’t that nice?

Hmmmmm! Teachers are all propagandists. So, I know when to be careful. Did you guys connect like you expected?

Very much so. I love funny people. Since today was one of my most hectic days, considering that I had two papers, I needed a distraction to help me relax and Omara just provided one. You have no idea how much I needed this.

But seriously, you guys almost gave me a heart attack. That call caught me off guard. I was doing something very sensitive when you called and it got me hysterical.

Thank God I was alone, people could have thought I had gone insane or something.

Yeah, thanks to Blitz and me of course. Sign out in style if you may, pretty please.

Honestly, I used to think this whole hanging out thing was a sham. Now I know what it really is. You should be worried because you are going to be overwhelmed by the number of messages coming in from my friends.

In fact, let me send a message now. Any friend of mine out there who has not met me in a long time, just send your message to 8338 and we will meet somehow, through Blitz. Ha ha!
