LOOSING out on the Bunyoro state ministerial appointment after failing to sail through the parliamentary vetting committee for lack of appropriate academic papers may have deeply saddened Kibuku county MP Saleh Kamba (NRM).
But this morning's nullification of his February election victory by the Mbale High Court rubbed pepper on the already existing wound. When the Justice Michael Chibita read out the ruling, Kamba remained unconsciously glued on the bench staring on the floor as Namuyangu, his opponent tossed her arms in the air seemingly is prayer.
“Bannange mugume, mugume..(Please stay calm, stay calm),†Kamba sprang up and managed to yell out to his shaken supporters.
Namuyangu dragged Kamba to court for bribery, assaulting voters and intimidation.
She also accused the electoral commission of noncompliance citing tallying of wrong results, chasing out of her agents from some polling stations, distribution of excess ballot papers to some polling stations with others getting less and forgery of her agent’s signatures on declaration forms in polling station where they were chased away.
Kamba polled 23855 votes during the February polls to defeat Namuyangu who got 21893.
