And the hottest women in Ug are...

Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder, but there are people we can all collectively agree have outstanding physical attractiveness (read hot). It is also true you cannot truly tell who the hottest person in a geographical location like Uganda is.

Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder, but there are people we can all collectively agree have outstanding physical attractiveness (read hot). It is also true you cannot truly tell who the hottest person in a geographical location like Uganda is.

Contests like Miss Uganda try to cover all the regions, but their biggest undoing is that someone has to be willing to contest. That was why we turned to you… and, what better place to do this than the engaging social networks?

Starting with an initial survey carried out among the participants in the Urban TV auditions, we took the mini results to the New Vision website. We also did a survey on four different pages on facebook and twitter and got about 400 respondents. We asked readers and fans to tell us who they thought was the hottest woman in Uganda.

It elicited lots of interesting responses, with a heated discussion on the veracity of the initial findings on the website, but also with a number of really interesting new additions to the list, especially on facebook. The results traversed all boundaries — age, social standing and marital status.

From beauty queens in their early 20s, through royalty, society, business, arts to seasoned politicians, voters name them all. Omitting personal choices (friends and relatives), we picked up the votes, tallied them and, ladies and gentlemen… presenting the hottest women in Uganda’s public arena today…..

In lead position are model/actress/singer Natasha Sinayobye and South Africa-based Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hussein . Voters said both women were the perfect definition of “sexy”.

Sinayobe, 28, a mother of one, who, after a marked absence from the public eye, has lately breezed back on the scene as a musician with her single Butunda. She rose to fame as part of the Obsessions, a local music group. She and longtime boyfriend and fellow dancer Michael Kasaija were tabloid fodder before she disappeared off the scene only to resurface as a performer with drama group The Ebonies last year.

LEFT TO RIGHT:Zari Hussein,socialite/businesswoman(1 Position), Bad Black, socialite(3 Position) and Zuena Kirema, musician Bebe Cool’s wife (4 Position)

Zari, a 31-year-old mother of three who dabbles in music but is known more for her flamboyant lifestyle,  is not shy to declare on her facebook wall that she is “sexy”, a word that still makes many Ugandan woman blush or cringe in embarrassment. But her appeal seemingly extends beyond physical attractiveness as many voters commended her business acumen.

Coming in at second position is musician Grace Nakimera. Voters were fascinated by not just her looks, but also the way she “moves her body.”

You will never guess who the third hottest woman is — Bad Black alias Latifah Nalukenge alias Shanita Namuyimba! Still think David Greenhalgh is a lost puppy for buying her an Audi Q5 weeks after he took her to court for allegedly fleecing him?

In the fourth position is Lady Sylvia Nagginda, the Nnabagereka of Buganda. She ties in with Bebe Cool’s wife Zuena and embattled minister for presidency and Bujenje County MP Kabakumba Masiko, who is currently battling allegations of abuse of office. Well, who cares?

Songbird Juliana Kanyomozi I is in fifth position but not alone. Angela “Crystal” Newman Kavulu, that radio presenter, who is representing Uganda at the Mrs World contest and TV and radio personality Flavia Tumusiime are in the same position. Rebecca Kadaga, the first Woman Speaker of Parliament, also ties in there.
