Bukedde FM fans braved rain for six hours to grace the third annual grand cerebration of the radio dubbed Embutu Y’embutikizi yesterday at Nakivubo Stadium. The fans thronged the venue as early as 8:00am and started revelling, but an hour later, the rain started.

Despite the rain, the fans continued partying till it stopped at around 1:00pm and they were joined by thousands more fans.

But even while it rained, the programme of the day did not change – it was followed to the dot; upcoming artistes as well as the event’s activities kept the fans busy. Among the upcoming artistes who stole the morning show were Afande Clever Cats, a police officer, who wowed fans with his new dancehall song.

Another new singer who excited the fans was Swahaba Kasumba, who sang a mataali song that urged the three local top male artistes; Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Chameleone, to stop their fights.

No sooner had the artistes left the stage than Bukedde Newspaper’s money blower game was brought on the stage. The first lucky winner in this fun-game got sh35,000. In the game, a person is placed in a cubicle full of paper money and has only 30 seconds to grab as much as possible. Whatever they grab, they take.

Another  highlight of the event was the grand finale of the traditional wresting known as Ekiggo Ggumbya. Twelve wrestlers (Abameganyi), who represented the 12 counties of Buganda, participated. The winner, Kiboye Muzamir of Buddu county in Masaka, was crowned Ssabameganyi of 2011. He won himself a heifer.

There was also a raffle draw in which four lucky readers of Bukedde newspaper won plasma TV screens each, courtesy of Game Stores, Lugogo. Others won bicycles from Samona; while six more readers won cash from Bukedde’s money blower.

Good Lyfe singers Mozey Radio and Weasel were the first big artistes to storm the stage. They sang at exactly 4:00pm with the help of the UB5 Band. Since they were the first ones on stage, they got enough time to sing and express their anger at their nemesis Bebe Cool. They threw jabs at him while singing their song Ekiduula.

They were followed by Kapapala singer David Lutalo and Wilson Bugembe, who worked the crowd into a frenzy. Others were Mariam Ndagire; DJ Michael and Iryn Namubiru.

The rest of the big-name artistes who included Bebe Cool; Jose Chameleone; Bobi Wine and Eagles Production Band members among others, sang at night when more fans had poured into the venue.
