The Vice President Edward Ssekandi has called upon the business community to make use of Uganda's missions abroad to market what they produce.

The Vice President is in New York USA where he led Uganda’s delegation to the 66th General Assembly.

This he said, will not only showcase the unique products produced in the country but also go a long way in making entry into the global markets where Ugandan businesses and companies stand better chances to excel.

Ssekandi was speaking at Uganda House on 45th Street in New York where the Uganda Mission is housed just next to the UN headquarters on the banks of the Hudson River.

He said that if Ugandans will involve the country’s missions across the globe in marketing Ugandan products, it will be easy to break into the global market and also to attract more investment in the country thus improving on the county’s earnings and people incomes.

He assured the staff at the mission that he will lobby Ugandans to take more aggressive marketing innovative strategies if they are to do business in a globalized market.

“I have heard people talk of Ugandans as lazy and least active in business in East Africa, may be they are right by now but I can tell you the trend has to change. The mindset has to adjust to modern way of doing things”, he said.

The Vice President who is representing President Museveni at the UN General assembly will on September 23 address the Assembly on Uganda’s role in promoting peace and development in the region, challenges and opportunities.

He is accompanied to the Assembly by the ministers for Foreign Affairs Sam Kutesa, Health, Dr. Christine Ondoa, Matia Kasaijja State for Finance and Okello Oryem, International Cooperation.

The Vice President will also hold sideline meetings with other leaders and also have a diner with Americas’ First Family. He will also meet the UN Secretary General.
