2:37pm | Kaziimba book launched, he receives car from President
Remember that President Yoweri Museveni had to leave the function prematurely. He tasked Speaker Rebecca Kadaga with completing his speech and responsibility.
To begin with, she launches a must-read book written by newly-installed Archbishop Kaziimba, which is on sale.
She also presents a car donation from the President to the ninth Archbishop to ease his vast pastoral work around the country.
Kadaga hands the keys of the 'kapyata' to Kaziimba, who is thankful for the gesture.

"Your enthronement has been warmly received by the Kingdom of Buganda," says Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga in his speech, with the ubiquitous presence of officials from the monarchy to show for.
"This is a very big responsibility, but we know that Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu is a priest of commitment," says Mayiga.
And adds: "The office of archbishop comes with tremendous authority and we pray that God will be with you as you exercise that authority."
After Mayiga's brief delivery, Archbishop Kaziimba is presented with a present from Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.
"Send him my thanks," Kaziimba tells Mayiga.

Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa, looking smart in a purple-print gomesi, is addressing the congregation.
Today is a day we have been waiting and praying for, she says.
"What a wonderful day! To God be the glory! May His name be glorified forever."
She goes on to introduce the political figures that are present, including ministers and legislators.
As the chairperson of the organising committee, Nankabirwa breaks down Iin detail who did what in the preparation for the enthronement. She thanks everyone who contributed to the realisation of the function - but paticularly thanks President Museveni for footing one-third of the budget.
In a special way, Nankabirwa also thanks one young man attached to CBS, who reached out to her to seek guidance on how he could deliver his sh10,000 contribution.
"He said he did not want to miss out on the blessing," she told the congregation.

From his detailed message, the newly-installed Archbishop of Uganda has called for a God-fearing, educated and healthy nation, among several other sticking points.
After his well-rounded delivery, Kaziimba takes the mic for a special presentation. His husky bass is heard across the cathedral in a special musical production by the archbishop himself, backed by his wife's soprano.
He sure has a singing voice.
At the end of his presentation, the congregation rewards him with a huge round of applause.

"We shall continue supporting the lifelong exclusive bond between one man and one woman," says Kaziimba, who goes on to advise couples that are still cohabiting to put their marriage right before God.
As a family planning proponent, the new Archbishop says he believes "there is a place for marriage control the God's way" and categorically underlines that he does not support abortion.

Archbishop Kaziimba says that while Uganda has appropriately supported the girl child, the boy child has been neglected.
He calls on actors to support the boy child.

Archbishop Kaziimba particularly thanks his wife Margaret, who has been a "constant intercessor and encourager. Since we got married, she has been my prayer partner", he says.
"I call upon the church to give attention to mentorship and discipleship.
"My ministry will rotate around a call to the ministry on the conversion of the head, the conversion of the heart and the conversion of the hand," says Kaziimba.
"My conviction is that everything that I do and say should make Christ be known. I want us to focus on making Christ known in the power of the Holy Spirt."

"I am so grateful to God for this memorable day. This day is the only one and it will never come again. I have all reason to thank God who called me from my humble background."
Kaziimba goes on to thank all the people that have contributed to what he is today, right from his parents to teachers and friends. He particularly talks about his father, who is suffering from dementia, and sadly, "he cannot remember me".

It is a quintet of sharp-looking young men. Four of the young men are his children, one a reverend and another a professional instructor of pilots.

The outgoing Archbishop of the church, Stanley Ntagali, is addressing the congregation.
He welcomes every one around, including the clergy that have graced the occasion.
"I am very happy to retire today, which by God's grace happens to be my 65th birthday," he says, drawing applause.
Ntagali also thanks his wife Beatrice for being by his side every step of his journey at the helm.
"I thank her for standing by me in tough and good times."

He is also urged to check in with the bishops of the church.

In his parting shot, President Museveni cautions the public on "this dangerous disease" - Coronavirus.
"Let's do this the easy way. Don't shake hands," he warns, quipping that while hosting visiting Archbishop Justin Welby at State House, he missed the opportunity to shake the Church of England head's hand as a precautionary measure.

"We should influence people by example," says President Museveni.
He talks about interreligious unity.
"We are glad the religious authorities in Uganda started the inter-religious council. In Uganda now, we don't have conflicts on behalf of God. In the past, we had conflicts by confused people. Now those are not there. There is a governance structure for all religious groups in Uganda."
The President urges religious groups of other nations to follow Uganda's example to keep religious conflicts at bay.
He also talks about Christianity from his personal experience.
"As somebody who belonged to the old religion of Africa and also joined, together with my parents in 1957, the new religion, I would like to share my testimony.
"The Christian religion brought two important value addition elements to the spirituality of the Africans of the area. One element was the clarification on the issue of the resurrection of Jesus. The second element is the issue of unconditional forgiveness and that of even loving our enemies. This was totally new. In our traditional religion, we believed in vengeance," says Museveni.

President Yoweri Museveni, who will have to leave the service prematurely to attend to other duties, is invited to make his remarks.
"I congratulate our good friend, the former bishop of Mityana, Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, on his elevation to the high position of the archbishop." he says.
"I can give witness that he did a good job in Mityana. I am sure he will now scale that good work in the whole of Uganda. I congratulate archbishops [Henry] Orombi and [Stanley] Ntagali for the contribution they made to the Church of Uganda, such as the Church House. [I was there, I saw it].
"These projects will help the church to be self-supporting financially. It is good to see that the infrastucture of the Church is growing.

"It is a joy for me to be here today to celebrate the enthronement of our brother, Stephen Kaziimba," says Archbishop Laurent Mbandavice, the chairman of the GAFCON Primates Council, who is speaking on behalf of Africa.
"We have to be courageous. We have to remain steady. We have to guard our gospel entrusted to us. We have to follow the example of Paul, who preached the gospel of Christ.
"Let us join hands. We have always been partners. We look forward to linking hands and serving God," he says.

"Yesterday I went on a pilgrimage to Namugongo. It was a transforming experience - to see the see of this extraordinary church," says the visiting archbishop.
"Without peace, there is no salvation," adds Welby, rallying the church to unite.
Glad to see him give a go at one of the most popular hymns in Luganda. Deserved applause for him from the congregation.

The Dean of the Province of the Church of Uganda, Bishop Jackson Thembo Nzerebende, is on the podium, performing introductions of the clergy in attendance. Nzerebende is also the bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese.
Present are church leaders from different parts of the world - from neighbouring Kenya to Nigeria, from Rwanda and South Sudan to Brazil and North America, to mention but a few.
While at it, Bishop Nzerebende is keen to introduce his beloved wife to the congregation.

The main man - Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu - has entered the cathedral to warm applause. He has returned the gesture by waving back to the people he will lead. He is wearing full vestments of the position he is about to officially take over.

One of the hymns sang during the offertory phase of today's service is the good-old Great Is Thy Faithfulness.
I am sure you have enjoyed singing along.
"Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

From his detailed message, the newly-installed Archbishop of Uganda has called for a God-fearing, educated and healthy nation, among several other sticking points.
After his well-rounded delivery, Kaziimba takes the mic for a special presentation. His husky bass is heard across the cathedral in a special musical production by the archbishop himself, backed by his wife's soprano.
He sure has a singing voice.
At the end of his presentation, the congregation rewards him with a huge round of applause.

"We shall continue supporting the lifelong exclusive bond between one man and one woman," says Kaziimba, who goes on to advise couples that are still cohabiting to put their marriage right before God.
As a family planning proponent, the new Archbishop says he believes "there is a place for marriage control the God's way" and categorically underlines that he does not support abortion.

Archbishop Kaziimba says that while Uganda has appropriately supported the girl child, the boy child has been neglected.
He calls on actors the support the boy child.

Archbishop Kaziimba particularly thanks his wife Margaret, who has been a "constant intercessor and encoourager. Since we got married, she has been my prayer partner," he says.
"I call upon the church to give attention to mentoring and discipleship.
"My ministry will rotate around a call to the ministry on the conversion of the head, the conversion of the heart and conversion of the hand.
"My conviction is that everything that I do and say should make Christ be known. I want us to focus on making Christ known in the power of the Holy Spirt.

"I am so grateful to God for this memorable day. This day is the only one and it will never come again. I have all reason to thank God who called me from my humble background.
Kaziimba goes on to thank all the people that have made him be, right from his parents, teachers and friends. He particularly talks about his father who is suffering from dementia and sadly, "he cannot remember me".

After a round of vibrant musical production, next up, the faithful will take in another piece of prayer song by the Kaziimba Boys. It is in Luganda, and we understand it is about the singing group's journey.
It is a quintet of five sharp-looking young men. šµā¬"It has not been easy," they sing.
Four of the young men are his children, one a reverend and another a professional instructor of pilots.

The outgoing Archbishop of the church Stanley Ntagali is addressing the congregation.
He welcomes every one around, including the clergy that have graced the occasion.
"I am very happy to retire today, which by God's grace happens to be my 65th birthday," he says, drawing applause.
Ntagali also thanks his wife Beatrice.
"I thank her for standing by me in tough and good times."

The new Archbishop of Church of Uganda is urged to enter into the very world of the ordinary people.
He is also urged to check in with the bishops of the church.
"As archbishops , we enter into our bishops' world. We care for them (...) Jesus modeled servant love. We serve the flock. Leaders are one who are so willing to serve their people that they sacrifice for them."

In his parting shot, President Museveni cautions the public on "this dangerous disease" - Coronavirus.
"Let's do this the easy way. Don't shake hands," he warns, quipping that while hosting visiting Archbishop Justin Welby at State House, he missed the opportunity to shake the Church of England head's hand as a precautionary measure.

"We should influence people by example," says President Museveni.
He talks about interreligious unity.
"We are glad the religious authorities in Uganda started the inter-religious council. In Uganda now, we don't have conflicts on behalf of God. In the past, we had conflicts by confused people. Now those are not there. There is a governance structure for all religious groups in Uganda."
The President urges religious groups of other nations to follow Uganda's example to keep religious conflicts at bay.
He also talks about Christianity from his personal experience.
"As somebody who belonged to the old religion of Africa and also joined, together with my parents in 1957, the new relgion, I would like to share my testimony.
"The Christian religion brought two important value addition elements to the spirituality of the Africans of the area. One element was the clarification of the issue of the resurrection of Jesus. The second element is the issue of unconditional forgiveness and that of even loving our enemies. This was totally new. In our traditional religion, we believed in vengeance," says Museveni.

President Yoweri Museveni, who will have to leave the service prematurely to attend to other duties, is invited to make his remarks:
"I congratulate our good friend, the former bishop of Mityana, Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu on his elevation to the high position of the archbishop.
"I can give witness that he did a good job in Mityana. I am sure he will now scale that good work in the whole of Uganda. I congratulate archbishops [Henry] Orombi and [Stanley] Ntagali for the contribution they made to the Church of Uganda, such as the Church House. [I was there, I saw it].
"These projects will help the church to be self-supporting financially. It is good to see that the infrastucture of the Church is growing.

"It is a joy for me to be here today to celebrate the enthronement of our brother, Stephen Kaziimba," says Archbishop Laurent Mbandavice, the chairman of the GAFCON Primates Council, who is speaking on behalf of Africa.
"We have to be courageous. We have to remain steady. We have to guard our gospel entrusted to us. We have to follow the example of Paul, who preached the gospel of Christ.
"Let us join hands. We have always been partners. We look forward to linking hands and serving God," he says.

While introducing the presence of high-profile people attending today's special service, outgoing Archbishop Ntagali calls out Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at greet the congregation.
"Yesterday I went on a pilgrimage to Namugongo. It was a transforming experience - to see the see of this extraordinary church," says the visiting archbishop.
"Without peace, there is no salvation," adds Welby, rallying the church to unite.
Glad to see him give a go at one of the most popular hyms in Luganda. Deserved applaud for him from the congregation.

The Dean of the Province of Church of Uganda, Bishop Jackson Thembo Nzerebende is on the podium, performing introductions of the clergy in attendance. Nzerebende is also the bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese.

I can't but help to say that the grand Namirembe Cathedral is filled to capacity. Other faithful are camped outside of the church to follow proceeding.
The main man - Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu - has entered the cathedral to warm applause. He has returned the gesture by waving back to the people he will lead. He is wearing full vestments of the position he is about to officially take over.

Meanwhile, Justin Portal Welby, who is the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury and the most senior bishop in the Church of England, is in the country as a guest at the enthronement of Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu.
