Kampala International University (KIU) took home a point after a dominant Uganda Christian University (UCU) failed to bury their scoring opportunities at the Sendi pitch Wankulukuku in the Pepsi University football League.

The fired up hosts took the lead through Yinusa Muftau, but their opener was cancelled out minutes later by Anthony Male.

The first half saw both team try to outwit each other with counter attacks. However, in the second half UCU dominated play and numerous chances created.

The visitors went very close on two occasions with an empty net in sight, but their lack of quality in the final third cost them the three points.

KIU were also reduced to 10 men after skipper Jackson Musinguzi executed a poor tackle that saw him penalized.

Despite going a man down, KIU held on to secure a point.

KIU Geofrey Akabwai was disappointed with his side's performance, saying that they should have done more.

"We played very well in the first half. We pressed them hard and we should have scored more goals. It's a bitter result to take home, but we shall defeat UCU in the next leg," Akabwai said

On the other hand, UCU coach Jimmy Kintu was content with his sides display and felt it was something to build on.

"We wanted to avoid a loss at all costs and we did. It is never easy playing away from home. KIU showed us that and I think the boys did quite well," he said.

UCU now maintain top spot in group B, just ahead of KIU on goal difference.

IUIU now takes on Kumi in Mbale. Both teams are in search of their maiden win in this year's UFL competition.
