“He is alive and safe. We are going to pick him from Soroti and interview him on how he got there,” Owoyesigire said.

KAMPALA - The Anglican priest who went missing on Sunday has been found alive in Soroti.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire told New Vision by telephone on Wednesday morning Rev Isaac Mwesigwa was safe.

"He is alive and safe. We are going to pick him from Soroti and interview him on how he got there," Owoyesigire said. The Police officer said Mwesigwa was found at a friend's place.

According to his family, Mwesigwa was kidnapped on Sunday from Mukono.

But surveillance security camera footage secured by the Police shows that the priest drove and parked his car at a hotel in Sonde, Mukono district, before jumping on a bodaboda and heading to an unknown destination.

New Vision has learnt that Mwesigwa on Sunday night drove his car, a Toyota- Raum registration number UAR 468D, to City Executive Hotel in Sonde, before he jumped on a boda boda. It is believed he headed towards Mukono side.

Mwesigwa is the assistant vicar at St John's Cathedral, Kasaka in Central Buganda Diocese.

His family and church authorities claimed Mwesigwa, a father of five, was reportedly kidnapped by two armed men that staged a roadblock along the Sonde-Seeta road on Sunday.
