Going by the training witnessed in Busiika on Sunday, the opening round of the Motorcycling Association of Uganda (MAU) Challenge Series this coming Sunday is expected to be exciting.

The riders underwent rigorous fitness drills to maintain speed on the track during the upcoming competition.

They also worked on how to clear the jumps and negotiate corners at a fast speed.

A tracking system was set up to evaluate a rider's performance as per the time posted on the transponders.

The format where the MX125cc class riders will be allowed to compete with MX1 or MX2, MX65 to take on MX85cc and score points as it is in the Mammoth Greatest Race in USA will be officially launched at the MAU event.

"This type of training helps us improve, because you are aware of the time you make per lap and know where to improve - whether it is on the jumps or corners," said Ali Omar Sr, the father of Omar brothers Waleed, Wazir and Yasser.

Sunday's event will feature several innovations introduced, a development that has excited participants.

Some of the reforms include riders registering to score points in two classes, for instance MX65 and MX85cc classes or MX85cc and MX 125cc classes.
