KAMPALA - In January 2011, the last City Beat All Stars Party was held in Guvnor. That ended a remarkable run of almost seven years when the City Beat magazine held a party each and every month.
You think Ugandans party a lot now? You probably went around when everyone in town wanted to be invited to the City Beat party.
For every month of the year since 2005, the City Beat magazine would organise a party where a chosen artist would get to meet their fans.
A meet and greet, if you like. And every January, there would be the All Stars Party, where the largest collection of Ugandan entertainers would gather to party with their fans.
And every month it would be a different venue, from the former T1, to Obliggato with Afrigo, to a small café in Pioneer Mall, Basement in Hotel Equatoria, Sky Hotel in Naalya, but mostly Club Silk and Guvnor, it was party all the time. Because they were so many, we shall do this in two parts, stating with these:
