National junior golf team player Elton Thembo completed a hat-trick of victories when he won the Entebbe Junior Golf Open Championship at Entebbe Club on Friday.

It was Thembo's third win in a row for the handicap-5 youngster who recently also made the cut in the recent national team qualifiers.

The 16-year old Entebbe Secondary School student who made it to the top ten in last year's Uganda Junior Open at the Lake Victoria Serena course attributed his win to regular practice.

"I practice a lot and my coach Davis Kato encourages me to play, but I also gained more confidence after playing the national team qualifiers and making it to the team, so I came for this tournament high on confidence and well prepared for it,"

Uganda Golf Club's Milka Ainembabazi, 16, who goes to Marinassa High School, also bagged his 7th career trophy after she topped the girls' category with 69nett.

"I also want to play for the national team and maybe later play as professional," Ainembabazi said.

Entebbe Education Center Primary School's Aretha Atuhairwe who was also returning to the podium for the second time having won the skills test last year is also looking to continued improvement to fulfill her dream of playing at the Junior World Cup.

Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Eva Magala and Entebbe Club Ladies Captain Rita Apell advised the young golfers to continue practicing regularly and attend training clinics in order to improve their game.
