Uganda's conversations today - January 8
Jan 08, 2020
Wondering what's trending on social media right now? Here are the top trending topics in Uganda.
1. Sadio Mane
Liverpool is coasting to the Premier League title this season and it came as no surprise that Sadio Mane on Tuesday scooped the African Player of the Year award, becoming only the second Senegalese footballer after El Hadji Diouf to do so.
Mane won the award for the first time after finishing runner-up to his Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah of Egypt in 2017 and 2018.
Beauty right there. This was how the people of Bambaly, Sadio Mané's village watched yesterday's CAF Awards.#CAFAwards2019 pic.twitter.com/xSFrgdrF9l

2. #OleOut
Fun fact: Manchester United is winless in this whole decade! Of course, we are not even two weeks into 2020 and Manchester United fans are fed up with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and want the manager replaced.
Following a run of games which saw the Red defeat Man City and Tottenham, they have reverted to type under the Norwegian and rumours that former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is in line to take the job, fans have amplified their displeasure.
Man Utd fans saying Solskjær needs time are unserious. Stop the counter attack and he is clueless. Again & again.

Thanks for Wan-Bissaka & that night Paris. Goodbye. #OleOut
3. WWIII
The tensions between Iran and the United States have reached new heights with news that Iran fired missiles at US targets in Iraq in retaliation to Qasem Soleimani's assassination. While the world woke up to news that a Ukrainian plane crashed in Tehran killing all 176 people onboard, speculation has been rife that it could have been shot down...collateral damage in the bloody dispute between the two countries.
