At 3pm -Final
St Lawrence University v Uganda Christian University

Uganda Christian University coach Jimmy Kintu is optimistic that his side has what it takes to defeat St Lawrence when the two sides face off in the Pepsi University League final this Sunday at Lugogo.

"Our target this season was to win the league. We are going to do everything possible to ensure that we walk away with the trophy. Regardless of who will win the league but fans should come and experience a good game between both sides, "stated Kintu.

St Lawrence University Coach Davis Nono is also confident saying his team is ready for the final.

"I am thankful to God that the final has come at the right time when all my players are in a good mood. I assure you with God on our side, we are going to win the trophy," he noted.

Unlike this year's final that will be played at Lugogo, the previous ones have been held at Mandela National Stadium Namboole.

This year's final has been shifted due to heavy rains over the past two weeks. The Masaza cup final and Uganda premier league games left the pitch surface damaged thus management calling for its closure until it is fixed.

Both UCU and SLAU will be playing their first final ever since the competition was started eight years ago.

UCU defeated Bugema University 4-2 in penalties after 3-3 draw on aggregate to book a spot in this year's final while St Lawrence University also had to wait for a penalty shootout winning 3-2 to eject 2017 champions Uganda Martyrs University and confirming their presence in the final having settled for a 2-2 aggregate over two legs.

In the third-place playoff, Nkozi based side Uganda Martyrs University will battle Bugema University to determine who finishes third and fourth respectively.
