Agilis Partners wins 2019 Secretary of State's award

Agilis is the largest grain and oilseed producer and one of the leading wholesalers of agricultural commodities in Uganda.

 
Agilis, a U.S. company operating in Uganda on Thursday received an award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) at an award ceremony at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC. 
 
Agilis is the largest grain and oilseed producer and one of the leading wholesalers of agricultural commodities in Uganda.  It invests in local communities, sets high product standards, uses sustainable farming methods, pays competitive wages, and incorporates cutting-edge technology. 
 
According to a communiqué from the US embassy in Uganda, other recipients of the award included U.S. companies operating in India, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Singapore but Agilis won the ACE award for the Sustainable Operations category.
 
"Hundreds of food manufacturers depend on Agilis' safe and affordable supply to nourish over 500,000 consumers in East Africa annually.  Agilis employs 650 people, and women represent a major contingent of the operational and management team in a traditionally male-dominated industry," read the communiqué.
 
Established in 1999, the Award for Corporate Excellence recognizes U.S. companies that promote and uphold high standards as responsible members of their communities where they do business. 
 
"Agilis exemplifies the best of American entrepreneurship, and with the help of the Government of Uganda, we hope Agilis can continue to serve as a great example of Uganda's investment potential for other U.S. companies," read the communiqué.
