Mumbere in court

Rwenzururu king Charles Wesley Mumbere was at the International Crimes Division of the High Court at Kololo for the ruling on the relaxation of his bail terms.

Mumbere who was accompanied by his wife Agnes Ithungu, however, will have to wait a little longer after the ruling was postponed to Thursday.

FDC dialogue with Museveni

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) at the party’s weekly press briefing stated its desire to have a dialogue with President Yoweri Museveni regarding his retirement.

Oil pipeline public hearings

The East African Crude Oil Pipe Line (EACOP) public hearings began in Kakumiro district with the government assuring the country that the project is progressing despite reports of a standoff.

People affected by the project attended the hearing held at Kisiita Primary School and expressed worry that the government has not helped the locals acquire land titles, leaving them vulnerable to land grabbers.

Mbarara University students protest 

Students of Mbarara University of Science and Technology on Monday afternoon stormed the office of the Mbarara resident district commissioner seeking for an explanation over the insecurity levels around the university. This after a second-year student, Brian Akampulira, was murdered at TASO village in Kamukuzi division. They had a closed-door meeting with the RDC Lt Col James Mwesigye attended by district leaders and the students’ representatives.

Accountant charged

John Marie Iga an employee in with the Ugandan embassy in Denmark was charged at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo. The former accountant in the Ministry of Local Government is accused of embezzling sh102m between 2014 and 2015.
