Busoga United head coach Abbey Kikomeko hailed the nine men who helped his side play for three points after his two wing-backs were sent off in his side's hard-fought 2-1 win over Police FC in Saturday's Star times held at Mighty Arena playground.

Former Vipers FC playmaker, Boban Zirintuusa, gave the home side a lead after 5 minutes when he fired in a rebound after Joel Madondo had missed a penalty but the visitors had Samson Kigozi level the score five minutes before the interval.

10 minutes after the interval, Samson Kigozi gave Busoga United a 2-1 lead with a simple tap in, only for left-back Isma Kawawulo and fellow right-back Umaru Mukobe, formerly a BUL FC player, was given marching orders for foul play 12 minutes from time, a fact that led the home side plays with nine men to scrap for three vital points.

''We conceded an equaliser but held on and got a win earlier in the second half. I am very happy for my 9 players who played their hearts out to defend the three points,” said Kikomeko.

The win lifted Busoga United into the fifth position with 13 points, six behind league leaders, neighbours, and arch-rivals BUL FC who lead the standings with 19 points.
