Vision Group's chief executive Robert Kabushenga, who attended the concert, had one word for Friday's show: "BALLISTIC!"

11:09pm   'It's drizzling, but no one is moving an inch'

Solomon Muleyi at Sheraton:

Maddoxx Ssemanda Ssematimba is, like all the men in history with three names, a special musical artiste.

It is drizzling, yet none of his fans is moving away.

The water smidgens being emitted by the sky are becoming bolder, and any time from now, the Sheraton Gardens will be soaked. The grass is already soggy.

But the revellers are still throwing their legs about, stomping and ululating to signify such bliss.

10:43pm   'Preaching peace'

Solomon Muleyi at Sheraton:

Maddoxx is performing Ddembe. He is preaching peace, but he has wreaked such havoc in the crowd by his mere presence on stage.

What are your favorite songs by the legend?

10:30pm   MADDOXX SEMATIMBA GETS ON STAGE!

And now, ladies and gentlemen . . . [drumrolls]

The main man of the evening - Maddoxx Sematimba - has just stepped on stage. The crowd is up in flames. He is performing in Kampala. But the crowd is in heaven.

Maddoxx Ssemanda Ssematimba has proved over and over that he has a special place in many a Ugandan heart.

10:10pm   'Not moved'

"Natty Dreads' renditions are so far, the only shortcoming of the concert. The crowd appear not moved by his performance," says New Vision's Solomon Muleyi, who is attending the concert.

"They seem to be irked instead.

"Meanwhile, the House Of Talent brought a different feel of musicality to the event. They served a dish of folk songs."

9:37pm   'A special legend'

Solomon Muleyi at Sheraton:

Maddoxx is a living legend. Yet Mowzey Radio (RIP), it seems, is a special legend. DJ LL, as a way of commemmorating the late musician's art, is playing his songs back to back. The crowd seem to agree. They are singing along to all his songs.

MC Dagy Nice knows how to hype a crowd.

While calling Henry Tigan on stage, he created such suspense in the crowd. When Henry Tigan stepped onto stage, the crowd was already hyped. He has opened with one of his many golden hit songs Aboogezi.

9:30pm   'Sick reggae music!'

Meanwhile, DJ LL is back on the decks, mixing what many millennials in the audience are terming as "sick, sick reggae music!".

They love every bit of it, don't they!

9:25pm   Diana spices up the night!

Spice Diana on stage doing what she does best . . .

9:16pm   Spice Diana is on stage

Solomon Muleyi at Sheraton:

Spice Diana just stepped onto the stage. She, with her sassy vibes, is taking the crowd swiftly through her hits.

The crowd love her songs Ndi mu Love and Best Friend and are singing along.

In fact, the instrumentals of the intro of Spice Diana’s song Jangu Ondabe have set the crowd on fire. Everyone is on their toes, throwing their arms about. She is a musical gem, this one.

It seems that with every song she performs, the crowd gets wilder. Now performing Omusheshe, where she was featured by Mbarara’s star boy Ray G.

She has switched the mood a notch higher.

9:05pm   Say 'CHEEEEESE'!

Sollomon Muleyi at Sheraton:

The photo booth, as is always the case at high profile shindigs, is a busy place.

On entrance in the VIP section, the ladies are stopping by to pose for cameras, as well as take selfies to update their social media platforms.

It's lit, I tell you. Just the right measure of vibe for such a night.

8:45pm   A generous flow of music

Ndikwambala nga ekooti,

Ndi kwasambala nga essaawa

An excerpt from the chorus in Charles Mbiire’s song that has evoked such nostalgia in the crowd.

The Ziwuna Band started out somberly and now they are starting to wield magic with their classical hits.

Okello is on the keyboard, Isabirye is the trumpeter, Mazede on the tramboline, Kalungi Mulungi is working the drums while Kibalama is on the long drum.

8:31pm   House is filling up

Solomon Muleyi at Sheraton:

On stage opening the night is DJ LL, taking the crowd on a reggae journey.

DJ LL, it seems, has mastered his craft. He is a DJ and hypeman in the same respect. While he plays, he is engaging the crowd. He just dedicated the late Mowzey Radio's song Mama to the mothers in the house. The ladies are elated at the gesture.

The ordinary section is slowly filling up. And for them, the party has already started. They are on their toes, jumping to the DJ's tunes and toasting to good vibes. They are wetting their throats with the different tribes of alcohol on sale.

Ziwuuna Band are the first performers for the night. They are warming up the crowd for a long night of great music. They have opened with their classic song Ozze Munange.

The crowd, not so sure how and where to place the airs of familiarity about the band, have been jolted out of oblivion by the golden hit song Bamuleete.

7:45pm   Oh really?

Interesting fact right here:

7:29pm   Humility even under legendary spotlight

Maddoxx has been performing at many gigs and has also released a video of his popular hit Namagembe.

He is considered a music legend whose music still lives on. A gentle giant of the craft. Unmatched. But this is a title he has declined to take. He says he does not see himself as a legend.

But in the eyes of many of his fans, Madoxx is the greatest reggae star to have come out of Uganda.

6:55pm   A legend is in town

All roads are leading to Sheraton . . .

6:45pm   THE LEGEND IS HERE!

Solomon Muleyi at Sheraton:

alt=''

The mood at Sheraton is somber. The weather is a chill. But there are no signs of rain yet. Outside the gate, boda bodas are dropping off revellers - men and women dressed to the proverbial nines. The cars, after negotiating a sturbbon traffic grid lock, continue to trickle in. Men in police and army uniforms man the different entry points.

At the ticketing points, tickets are flying in sales. The queues are yet to snake, but the rise in numbers is a steady one.

Reggae music is wafting from the stage and filling the atmosphere of the Sheraton Gardens, where later, legendary musical artiste Maddoxx Sematimba will be performing for an eager crowd.

The beer stalls have been erected. The VIP section is a marvel. The aroma of different types of meat being roasted is everywhere.

The stage is ready. Is the crowd ready?
