Uganda's U-17 squad for COSAFA named

Uganda is placed in Group A and will play Zambia in their opening game on Friday

Uganda's U17 girls' national team head coach Ayub Khalifa is optimistic that his side will put up a good show in the forthcoming COSAFA Women U-17 Championship in Mauritius.

"We have had enough time to test all the players and finally came up with the final list that will represent the country in COSAFA. Teamwork is our strength and the attitude of the players is high. We are ready to compete with the best," stated Khalifa after naming final 20 players that will represent the country in the competition that will run from September 20-29.

The squad was announced on Sunday evening after the second practice match against FUFA Women Elite League select team at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The match ended 3-1 to the U-17 side aided by skipper Juliet Nalukenge's brace and Stella Musibika's strike.

The team will travel to Mauritius on Wednesday after completing a 10-day camp in Njeru.

Uganda that is placed in Group A will play Zambia in their opening game on Friday at St Francois Xavier Stadium in Port Luis.

Then they will face the hosts on Sunday before finalising the group matches with Comoros on September 24th at the MFA Technical Facility.

The top two teams in group A and B will qualify for the semifinals.
