Indiza sets new Serena record as Muthiya maintains lead in Pros Open

The Kenyan veteran golfer who is gunning for his six Uganda Open title consequently jumped to the third position after his bogey-free round.

Defending champion Dismas Ndiza was the talk at Kigo after he fired an incredible nine-under-par 63 to set a new course record during the Castle Lite Uganda Open professionals' event at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa on Friday.

The Kenyan veteran golfer who is gunning for his six Uganda Open title consequently jumped to the third position after his bogey-free round that was spiced up by nine birdies going into the final round of the 72-hole competition.
 
His score on the day bettered the course record of 66 gross set by amateur golfer Ronald Otile last week.
 
"I had a good round and found all my second shots on the green and the pin positions were fairly placed and I putted very well, so let me see what tomorrow will bring," Indiza who is now five strokes away from the leader, Zambia's Madalisto Muthiya.
 
Muthiya who won the event in 2015 maintained his lead at the top, four strokes ahead of Zimbabwe's Charamba Tongoona who is second.
 
Muthiya rather perfect round that him score two eagles on the par-five holes 2 and 13, was undone by bogeys on holes 8 and 18.
 
An exciting closing round is anticipated, with most of the top golfers having improved tremendously in the third round.
