Ali Omar Yasser is ready for the challenge in the Armed Forces Appreciation Motocross Championship in Busiika next month.

The MX125cc class rider said he will start serious training when his bikes return from Zimbabwe where he finished in the top ten in the FIM Africa Nations Motocross Championship.

Team Uganda bikes travelled by road to Zimbabwe and are still in transit back.

Yasser will use the sixth round of the national championship at Garuga later this month to gauge himself before the Armed Forces championship.

"Yes we are yet to begin training because our bikes are still on the way from Zimbabwe, but working on the boys' body physically to stay fit," Omar's team mechanic Ali said.

"In Zimbabwe during the FIM Africa nations, we had not yet recovered from injury, but we are going to give our fans value for money next month in Busiika," Ali added.

Besides the foreign opponents, Omar will get stiff competition from his local rivals Aviv Orland, Fortune Ssentamu and his brother Wazir Omar.

The Armed Forces Appreciation championship is an event organised by Uganda Motocross Club to appreciate the contributions of the forces to the peace of the country.

All proceeds from the event will go to the renovation of schools and hospitals for armed forces that include Prisons, Police, Uganda Wildlife and UPDF.

The event is co-sponsored by Kampala Executive Aviation, Uganda motocross club Busiika, Mountain Dew, Uganda Lodges and Vision Group under the Urban Tv brand.
