KIU student crowned Miss Tourism Northern Uganda

Among, a first-year Law student of Kampala International University was crowned Miss Tourism Northern Uganda beating eight other contestants.

LIRA-Shakira Among, the newly crowned Miss Tourism Northern Uganda has pledged to use her title to market tourist sites in the  Northern part of Uganda to the entire world.

Among said there are several tourists sites in Northern Uganda including Barlonyo LRA Massacre Memorial Site in Lira, Kungu, the place where Christianity first started from Lango through Apac district among others which when marketed well can enhance job opportunities for the youth in the region. 

"Government of Uganda is willing to develop tourist sites in all parts of the country. Here in Northern Uganda there are several tourist sites that are being visited at will but in my one year reign I will  try all possible means to have the sites formalised to benefit people in my region," Among said.

 

 

Miss Tourism Northern Uganda 2019 Shakira Among

Among, a first-year Law student of Kampala International University was crowned Miss Tourism Northern Uganda beating eight other contestants.

Among, from Atek Angulu clan, one of the clans under Lango Cultural Institution (Tekwaro Lango) is from Lira district. She is set to represent the Northern region at the national level.

Among Shakira took over the crown from Queen Jackline Oyella who was Miss Tourism Northern Uganda 2018/19.

Jackline  Akot  Abalo, 22 from Agago district, a fourth-year Law student from Makerere University was crowned 1st runner up while Sharon  Aber from Pader district, a business student of MUBS was crowned 2nd runner up.
