Despite winning the overall National Sevens Rugby for the third time, Kobs failed to win the tournament in memory of their fallen chairman Edward Kitaka.
The Kobs lost 24-5 to Black Pirates in the tightly-contested final at Legends Rugby Club on Saturday that ended with some players losing their tempers and fighting.
Haruna Muhamad, Timothy Odongo and Isaac Massa scored the tries for Pirates.
Kobs skipper Joseph Aredo said that winning the overall tournament, was a motivation to invest in 7s rugby.
"We would have loved to win the Kitaka 7s, but Pirates were a better side again today. We are going back on the drawing board to make sure that we win all the circuits next season especially the Kitaka 7s," Aredo said.
Pirates captain Isaac Massa said that winning the Kitaka 7s was sweet revenge for the defeat they suffered against Kobs in the Rujumba 7s and the Jinja 7s in the previous circuits.
The tournament had seven circuits. Vincent Otim the chairman of the organising committee said that they will review the tournament to see that next year the event is better than this year.
