The second edition of the Uganda Golf Club Ladies Open is expected to attract some of the best female golfers in the country because of its close proximity to the Uganda Open championship.

The Ladies Open although relatively new on the calendar is the last event ahead of Uganda Open so up to 230 quality lady golfers will take a special interest in this
one.

“Last year was our first hosting and we expect an even greater turnout. The defending champion is our very own Irene Nakalembe and we expect this to be a tester
for the ladies ahead of the Uganda Open,” Uganda Golf Club lady captain Anne Abeja said.

Plenty of prizes

The UGC Ladies Open that is co-sponsored by Tusker Malt, Gofan Safaris, and the Uganda Communications Commission will see up to 22 prizes given away including electronics.

“Tusker Malt Lager is 100 percent committed to golf. We support the growth of golf countrywide and we are already achieving this with our bringing golf home engagement.

It is an opportunity for everyday people to interact with the sport and possibly enroll,” Tusker Malt representative Kelvin Gumisiriza said.

Caddies in too

There are so many draws to the tournament this year, in particular, the caddies tournament. They have not been forgotten as their tournament teed off on Monday
morning in Kitante with 90 caddies trying their luck on the pristine course.

Abeja believes that the state of the course alone will attract many people to the competition because the course is at its best not forgetting the beautiful rotating trophy on offer.

Play will tee off on Thursday and continue to Saturday. The event will then conclude with a grand gala dinner and award ceremony on Saturday with a gold and black
theme.
