Mbarara soccer event gets FIFA touch

Seven local teams and Kinondoni Girls FC from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania are expected to feature.

Venue: Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara
 
Mbarara Municipality will host this year's Sseninde women's development tournament which will be presided over by Chief Women's Football Officer for FIFA Sarai Bareman from New Zealand.
 
The one-day event, which is also the fourth edition of the competition, will be hosted at Kakyeka Stadium on August 24. 
 
Seven local teams and Kinondoni Girls FC from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania are expected to feature.
 
"We are blessed to have Bareman come to Uganda because her coming will be a big step for women football development in the country," said Jean Sseninde, the event organiser.
 
Last year's edition at the Star-Times stadium Lugogo had Burundi's Lydia Sekera, who is a member of the FIFA Council and International Olympic Committee (IOC), as chief guest.
 
Luwero's Talented Platform pipped Mukono Community 1-0 to clinch the title.
 
The eight teams to take part in this edition include Kira Girls Soccer Academy, Kisoro Young Simba, Mbarara Junior Team, Kinondoni Girls Football Club (Tanzania), Mbarara Sports Academy, St Mary's Vocational Girls, Kigezi Harambe Sports Academy, and Youth Sport Uganda Soccer Team.
