Arua lodge closed over death of a man

ARUA - Health officials in Arua municipality have closed Eman lodge and restaurant over the death of an unidentified man.

Police also arrested Lulla Eframne, the owner of the lodge to help in the investigations. However, he was later released on police bond.

Eframne said, the man who checked in the lodge on Wednesday, June 13, refused to identify himself.

The man's body was discovered on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at around midday and was buried on Monday at Arua Municipal cemetery.

Arua municipal health officer Norah Fuathum ordered the closure after inspecting the lodge citing a number of issues the proprietor failed to abide by.

Fuathum said standard requirements needed for a restaurant and lodge to operate were not in place.

The owner of the lodge Lulla Eframne has been faulted for negligence and poor security measures much as details of the cause of death have not been disclosed.

Bishop Paul Drileba, the Arua district health officer agreed with the municipal officers to close the lodge on health grounds.

"This will help provide time for investigations," he said.
