Former Mbarara Municipality clerk passes on

Bashakara served Mbarara Municipality in the position of town clerk for about 10 years. He also served as the town clerk of Jinja Municipality before his retirement.

MBARARA - David Bashakara, the former town clerk of Mbarara Municipality is dead.

Bashakara died at 70 years on Monday. His body is expected to be moved from his home in Boma cell-Kamukuzi division to the Mbarara Municipal council hall where his former workmates and other leaders will pay their last respects to the longest-serving town clerk of Mbarara Municipality.

Bashakara served Mbarara in the position of town clerk for about 10 years. He also served as the town clerk of Jinja Municipality before his retirement.

After his retirement, he contested in NRM primaries with his former mayor, Wilson Tumwine in 2010 but withdrew from the race before vote counting time claiming vote bribery and rigging.

Bashakara, who hails from Bushenyi district, also served as a head of Laity for Mbarara Archdiocese.
