Kawempe residents protest property rates

Lukwago first addressed the issue to the City Authority, which resolved that the Valuation Court should convene in Kawempe on Monday.

Kawempe resident braved the Monday morning downpour as they waited for the answers on the valuation. They gathered at the division headquarters.
 
This was after their petition to the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago against the leadership of Kawempe.
In the petition filed on June 5, they accuse the leaders of not addressing the high property rates.
Lukwago first addressed the issue to the City Authority, which resolved that the Valuation Court should convene in Kawempe on Monday.
 
 The traders said they were unfairly paying a lot of money in taxes.
 
Meanwhile, the Police in Kawempe arrested a group of who were dressed in red attire,  protesting the property rates, especially in the owner-occupied houses.
 
Lukwago says the youths should be released unconditionally.
