The Police are investigating a shocking day time robbery in which three people were shot dead in Nansana and several others injured on Wednesday afternoon.

The daring 2:15 pm raid occurred as workers at Cheap Hardware were preparing to bank the day's sales which sources say stretched into millions of shillings which the thugs fled with.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson confirmed the shooting incident but claimed it was only two workers who had been shot dead. Onyango noted that the robbers were travelling on unidentified motorcycles and that 3 of them were armed with AK47 rifles.

“They shot dead two workers who were identified as Jimmy Atuhura and Frank Aruho,” Onyango said.

“We were having lunch when about three motorcycles appeared. One of the men suddenly entered the hardware followed by four others and started shooting as they demanded money. It almost took them over 30 minutes as they ransacked the hardware and shot at the workers to scare them off,” an eye witness told New Vision.

Incidentally, Nansana Police Station is not far away from the hardware but responded to the shooting incident almost 40 minutes later according to the eyewitnesses.

Another eye witness, George Bahemuka who was at the scene at the time of the shooting noted that the robbery could have been the works of an insider who exactly knew the money movement with the hardware or that it was possible the robbers had taken their time to study the hardware.

By press time, several security agencies including the army and the police had sent in their officers who cordoned off the scene and tried to dust it in order to recover any evidence. The particular area is covered by the recently introduced CCTV camera and a police officer who was part of the investigation told New Vision they had already secured vital footage to help them with the investigations.

Transport along the Nansana-Hoima road remained paralyzed for the greater part of the afternoon as security agencies blocked off sections of the road as they carried on their investigations. Nobody has been arrested by yesterday evening.
