UNCC gets new board

The team will serve at the institution for a period of three years.

Cabinet has approved the appointment of the members of the board of trustees for the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC).
 
The members are Okello Kello Sam (chairperson), Cissy Mbabazi (vice chairperson), Owere Usher Wilson  (member), Kyobutungi Juliet Jolly (member), Edison Ngirabakunzi (member), Kiyimba Musisi (member), Naumo Juliana Akoryo  (member) and Fred Mutebi (member).
 
The team will serve at the institution for a period of three years. The Uganda National Cultural Centre was established on October 8, 1959, by an Act of Parliament. National Theatre is one of the institutions under UNCC.
 
Its mission is to preserve, promote, popularize and develop Uganda's art and culture through setting standards, building capacity and implementing relevant national policies.
 
Established to operate as a semi-autonomous body, it was officially inaugurated on December 2, 1959. It is also expected to promote unity in diversity.
 
All employees, artists, partners, organizations and individual clients who work for the institution are expected to live by the values of respect, accountability, and responsibility, self-sustainability, quality, proactive, reflective and networking.
 
It is Okello's second term as chairperson of the National Theatre. He juggles as a musician, actor, and comedian. He is also the founder of Hope North, a secondary school and sanctuary for young victims of the war, which he survived as a young boy.
