PARLIAMENT

The Parliament budget committee led by the Ntenjeru South MP Amos Lugoloobi has allocated Kampala City Authority an extra sh40b to compensate business mogul Hassan Basajjabalaba to repossess the city abattoir.

The Budadiri West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi had opposed the move, arguing it would be wastage of taxpayers' money.

But Lugoloobi justified the allocation arguing it would greatly help KCCA to improve their revenue collections which have greatly dwindled.

"Boda Bodas don't pay any tax. Taxis don't pay any revenues. This is one of the ways KCCA can boost revenue collections," Lugoloobi explained.

The allocation was eventually approved by Parliament last Friday in the course of passing the sh40.4trillion national budget.
