Police probe threat to journalist

Samuel Amanya, attached to Uganda Radio Network Kigezi Bureau is living in fear after receiving death threats in a telephone call by yet an unidentified person.

Police in Kabale is investigating a case where a journalist had his life threatened. 

Samuel Amanya, attached to Uganda Radio Network Kigezi Bureau is living in fear after receiving death threats in a telephone call by yet an unidentified person.

Amanya says on Thursday at 1: 14 pm, he received a call from an unidentified male using a telephone number 0782227581, threatening to end his life soon. The number is registered in the name of Penelope Akampurira Lynnette.

Amanya says the caller accused him of taking photos in Mwendo parish in Kitumba Sub-County Kabale, but he denies taking the said pictures.

According to Amanya, the caller threatened to kill him before the pictures are published.

Speaking to our reporter, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate said they have already recorded the matter for investigation under reference file number SD 55/23/5/2019 as the hunt for the suspect continue.
