Ali Omar is the defending champion of the buggy championship and a crowd favourite

The battles between the Blick and Omar families in motocross and buggy championships have always thrilled fans for years and they have been eagerly waiting to see it happen again.

Their prayers have been answered. The Blicks are back and will renew their rivalry with the Omar brothers in the buggy championship that will run alongside motocross on May 12 at the Victoria Racing Park in Garuga.

Arthur Blick Jr. confirmed the development at the launch of the fourth round of the Mountain Dew National Motocross Championship at Uganda Olympic Committee offices.

"We shall all be competing in the buggy championship starting with the first round in Garuga," Blick said.

"I, my sons Alestair and Paddy, Hussein Mukuye, Musa Nsubuga, Wazir Omar, Unisan Bakunda, Ali Omar and others who have not yet confirmed, will compete in the buggy championship," Blick explained.

Arthur Blick Jr. retired from active motocross last year after winning eleven national titles and two in Enduro titles and was later followed by his sons Alestair and Paddy who took a year's break from motocross.

Now, they are back to challenge Ali Omar who is the defending champion of the buggy championship and a crowd favourite.

Speed Way Motorsport Club (SMOC), the organisers of the event, have promised a better-organised event on a safe upgraded track.

"Garuga is a compact hard track, but we are going to work on the jumps and widen the corners so that competitors ride in a safe environment," Omar Mayanja the club president said.

"We shall have motocross from morning till 2 pm and the climax the day with buggy championship which is the first round on the buggy calendar," Mayanja noted.
