KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni has dropped veteran politician Baguma Isoke as Uganda Land Commission (ULC) chairperson, replacing him with former Hoima district MP Beatrice Byenkya.

According to a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, dated April 8, 2019, Museveni has also appointed other members on the commission.

Former Gulu University Vice Chancellor Prof. Pen-Mogi Nyeko is one of them.

Others are former Iganga district LC5 chairperson Asuman Kyafu, Stella Achan and former Kabale Town Clerk Rukiika Bujara.

Charles Muhoozi has been retained as a member of the commission.

The new members will be vetted by the Kadaga-chaired Parliamentary Appointments Committee.

"I hereby forward their names and curriculum vitae to you for Parliamentary approval," Museveni said in his letter to the Speaker.

Isoke was appointed as land commission boss in 2013, replacing the late Jehoash Mayanja-Nkangi.
