Uganda Pearls are rich form, a statistic that partly paints a picture of a team ready for the Africa Olympic qualifier in Pretoria South Africa.
 
The return of softball and baseball to the Olympic programme brought excitement and a call to improve the game in softball playing countries.

The women's job comes earlier but with tough hurdles to jump with only one slot for the global meet allocated for one team.
 
A trip to Kenya for a Uganda-Kenya invitational over the weekend at the Africa Nazarene University showed a gulf in class between the two sides with Uganda winning the series 2-1.
 
Playing away from home they claimed two convincing wins from three games.
 
Komuhendo Gorret and skipper Esther Nakabugo were huge standouts in the tournament with the former emerging MVP.
 
The experienced Nakabugo impressed with the ball to cap off the series with the best pitcher accolade. She was particularly unplayable pitching seven innings in the first game and four in the last game on Sunday.
 
"The girls keep growing in confidence and that is important going forward. We shall continue polishing them as we seek to avoid unnecessary mistakes on the pitch" said Dennis Kasozi UBASA president
 
With the  South Africa job in sight, the Pearls are set to intensify their training campaign as they seek for an inaugural appearance at the Olympics.
