Bwanika and Lukia win New Year's Pool Open

The two cruised to New Year’s Open pool tournament victory unbeaten at the Temusewo Bar and restaurant in Kampala.

National Open Pool champion Bwanika Mansoor and Lukia Naiga of CKI pool club started off the season with wins.
 
The two cruised to New Year's Open pool tournament victory unbeaten at the Temusewo Bar and restaurant in Kampala.
 
To get to the final, the 2018 Nile Special- USPA pool player of the year, Bwanika beat former National Open Champion Fahad Ssewankambo 8-2 in the semi-final before seeing off CKI teammate Ceasor Chadigar 9-7 in the tightly contested final.

"This is good for me. I got tough times in the final against Ceasor but the turning point for my victory was defeating Fahad at the semi-final," Bwanika said.
 
"I'm going to train hard as I prepare for the National League and National open this year," he added.
 
In the women category, Lukia Naiga returned to her winning form by defeating CKI Club teammate Angela Busingye 8-4.
 
"I last won an event early last year (Iddi Cup) but later lost the "Best of the Best "tournament in the final and fans had started writing me off the top bracket," Naiga said.
 
Tournament director Ronald Lubega said that they have lined up four more tournaments this season which include, Temusewo Open, Masters open for those who don't compete in the league Mr.& Mrs. Temusewo and the Last man standing all with cash prizes.
