The inaugural edition of the Super Lacrosse League has the full potential of filling gaps in Uganda’s competitive side of the local game.

It technically supersedes other form of competition on the local scene as it taps into every category of the game.

There are combined elements of tough competitions for senior players and the grassroot development for junior teams.

“It is a big opportunity to grow the game in Uganda as opportunities are made equal for all interested individuals in the game in an all-inclusive manner. We look out for more great action going forward” said Liberty Twesiime tournament director.

When it launched during the weekend  at the Six Aside Arena in Kyambogo, it was all worth the hype.  Raw talent was clearly exposed especially in the exhibition game between Uganda Lacrosse Cranes and the U19 side.

Edward Komaketch and Reagan Ochan scored 2 goals to finish day one as top scores in the junior category. Ocahan has particularly grown from strength to strength  featuring heavily in Uganda’s senior team campaign during last year’s World Championships in Israel.

Brian Mukaga and Geaorge Ogik were as well impressive with the sticks scoring one goal apiece on day one.

Meanwhile, the women’s game is equally taken well care of in the new league. MUBS, who are synonymous with grooming some of the best female players like the supremely talented 20 year old Sasha, got their campaign to a flying start with an 18-19 close win over Maroons.
