NAIROBI ATTACK: Injured rushed to hospital
Victims of the Dustil Hotel are being moved to Kenyatta National Hospital as Nairobi and Kenya comes to grips with the Monday afternoon incident, with the dust yet to settle.
Back at Riverside, there is a huge security presence. An aerial shot by one of the local TV stations shows smoke billowing from the hotel where the attack took place.
The city fire brigade has put out fire that had engulfed three vehicles, including one described by local media as belonging to the attackers.

UGANDA CUP: Vipers 0-0 Kansai Plascon (first half)
It's the Stanbic Uganda Cup action at St. Mary's Stadium in Kitende.
It is the first game for Vipers, who are last season's runners-up, after they were gifted a walk-over in the round of 64 and direct progression to the round of 32 when Rushekere Growers failed to show up at Kitende.
Meanwhile, Kansai Plascon beat Ndejje University 1-0 to advance to the round of 32.
It is still goalless at St. Mary's. It has been a run of indifferent performances at hope for the Venoms, so they are hoping to win this one ahead of their CAF Condeferation Cup return leg against Tunisian side CS Sfaxien (Read how the first leg went HERE.)

Minister Tumwebaze graduates
Among those who flashed the pearly whites at Makerere today, thanks to achieving an academic milestone, was the minister of information technology and communications, Frank Tumwebaze.

I pursued this course to particulary help myself understand the whole spectrum of the social determinants of health and what factors explain the disease burden in our communities," he wrote, in part, on his Facebook page.

"A lecturer caught on camera in immorality and sexually harrassing a student cannot stay in a top university.

What are the graduands going to do?
So what are the thousands of graduands the university wis going to churn out going to do, questions the President - before offering the solutions.
"Many of the social sciences people should look at management," he tips. Others can take up jobs as comedians or artists, says the President.
And what about those who cannot be directly employed, by say, Government? "Don't be despondent. Don't worry, you are educated, and that's good enough," says Museveni, saying that graduates who fall under this category should take advantage of the youth livelihood programme.
"Form a group and we give you capital - it can be either a grant, an interest-free loan or a low-interest loan."

First cohort of Ugandan-trained optometrists
This pioneering group is graduating today at Makerere University.
OK now you are wondering what an optometrist does, right? You are not alone. I, too, was a bit puzzled - until I sought help from my dear friend Google, who led me to another beloved friend called Wikipedia. Here is what I found out:
Optometry is a health care profession which involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities as well as the medical diagnosis and management of eye disease.
All clear now?
