President urges youthful couples to protect marriages

'Though there are ups and downs in marriage, couples need to be firm and resilient and protect their marriage'

President Yoweri Museveni attended the 50th wedding anniversary of Ignatius Katto and Separanza Katto and congratulated the couple for exhibiting resilience and love in their marriage life and being role models to their children and other youth about the importance of marriage.

The Kattos' wedding anniversary took place on Friday at their home in Rwakashaka, Kagarama, Isingiro North County in Isingiro district.

Museveni asked Kattos' children and the other youth, the married and those intending to join the marriage institution, to borrow lessons from the experience of the Kattos', adding that though there are ups and downs in marriage, couples need to be firm and resilient and protect their marriage.

 

The President who described Seperanza Katto as a model farmer who has done a lot to popularise and promote the growing of millet in Isingiro and Ignatius Katto as a long-time ally of the National Resistance Movement, added that his friendship with the Katto family was one of purpose.

He underscored the importance of recognising those who do good like model farmers because it motivates them and encourages others to copy their example.

He equally thanked the couple for labouring and educating their children adding that education provided a strong foundation for the survival of future generations and asked all parents to educate their children as they prepare them for a brighter future.

 

The veteran affairs state minister who is also the area Member of Parliament, Bright Rwamirama, commended Museveni for the numerous development programs that his government has extended to Isingiro district the latest being the availing of funds that will pump water from River Kagera to serve Isingiro district which always faces long dry seasons.

On their part, The Kattos commended the President for being a genuine friend of their family and for blessing and honouring them by gracing their 50th wedding anniversary.

They further thanked Museveni for committing himself to the good service of Uganda that has seen the country develop and prosper.
