Two drown in Lake Victoria

NAMAYINGO - Two people drowned in Lake Victoria after a small boat they were
travelling in capsized as they approached Busiro landing site on December 27.

The third person, Bruce Wanyama survived as he was rescued by fishermen while he tried to swim after the boat capsized.

Wanyama said they had accompanied Munkaaga to Maninga islands to pick his money that was made over Christmas holiday.

He said the boat capsized after being hit by a strong wave, about 200 metres to Busoiro landing site.

The Mutumba sub county LC 3 Chairman, Charles Kitosi has urged all people moving along the lake to always wear life jackets to avoid similar incidents.

Kitosi noted that the deceased could have been saved if  they were wearing life jackets.

The officer in charge Busiro Police, Kassimu Otaya said the two bodies of the deceased had been retrieved from the lake and handed over to relatives.
