Body of missing special hire driver recovered

Last year, a special hire driver in Fort Portal was murdered and his body dumped on a farm along the Kamwenge-Rwamwanja road.

BUNYANGABU- The body of a special hire driver who went missing on December 24, 2018 has been discovered dumped in a bush in Kabonero sub-county, Bunyangabu district.

Kankanga Saidi a.k.a Bosco's body was discovered by residents dumped in a bush. The residents later notified the Police and the locals who have been hunting for him.

It was difficult to recognise Kakanga's decomposed body until  his relatives found his clothes on the side.

According to Police the body had one eye plucked out.

Kakanga,  a resident of Rwengaju in Busoro met his fate after he was hired by unknown people who claimed they were going for a party.

 Lydia Tumushabe, the police spokesperson for Rwenzori West said Kakanga's death is unfortunate but promised Police commitment in hunting for his murderers.

"It is so unfortunate that we have lost another special hire driver, police detectives are on ground to investigate and we shall apprehend the suspects involved in the murder," Tumushabe said.

 His vehicle a Toyota wish registration number UBD/ 062C was found at Nyakabale in Bukwali East Division, Fort Portal municipality where it was dumped.

"We found the car parked in Nyakabale but the driver was not there we suspect that he could have been killed and his body dumped in the forest," Fred Businge, a resident of Bukwali said.

He said the residents have since Wednesday been searching for the missing driver until they were called that a body had been discovered in Bunyangabu.

Last year, another special hire driver in Fort Portal was murdered and his body dumped on a farm along the Kamwenge-Rwamwanja road.

His vehicle was recovered in one of the Kampala suburbs and three suspects have since been arrested in connection with the murder.

The suspects who were arrested have since been remanded  to Fort Portal main prison Katojo waiting to appear before high court to answer charges of murder and robbery.

Frank Musinguzi, a taxi driver along the Kasese-Fort Portal road said they are currently living in fear of falling prey to assailants.

 He faults local security for failing to trap the suspected killers, some of whom he claims are known to the public.

"We are living in fear because many criminals are targeting us last year our colleague Karoli was killed and his car recovered in Kampala," Musinguzi said.
