KABAROLE - Miss World Africa Quiin Abenakyo spent her Christmas holiday in Fort Portal town where she visited her grandparents at Kicwamba in Kabarole district.

Abenakyo 22, who was in August crowned Miss Uganda 2018/19, rose to the dazzling echelons of global fame when she won the continental crown in the Miss World 2018 contest - cementing her place in the Top 5.

After she shot to fame, Ugandans as usual started claiming how Abenakyo is their own.

Several posts went on social media with various people associating with Abenakyo; by tribe, name, the schools she went to and others by height.

Born to  Charles Sembera and Alice Kyamulesire, in Mayuge district, the people of Mayuge had all the right to feel much more excited about their own.

Mayuge is in Busoga Kingdom and definitely the whole Kingdom was on cloud nine, as one of their subjects became a world icon.

As all this went on, the people of Kicwamba in Kabarole district in Tooro Kingdom where Abenakyo’s mother was born could not stay silent.

Several Batooro posted there congratulatory messages to Abenakyo telling the whole world how her beauty comes from Tooro. Other claimed the Tooro gods were not going to rest if Abenakyo does not visit them.

Not to disappoint her relatives, Abenakyo visited her mothers’ home of origin and spent Christmas with them.

Although she has occasionally visited them, this time everyone had to care. The Quinn was in the Kingdom.

Several politicians and locals in Fort Portal were excited to share a moment with the queen.

They took pictures and posted them on Facebook praising the beauty queen.  Others jealousy posted how Abenakyo is a Mutooro.

"She is finally here in the Tourism City of Fort Portal! Miss ABENAKYO, Miss World Africa blood of our blood, our own, mwihwa waitu nazarwa Kicwamba. Tooro ekazaara. Tooro K'OKASEMERA! Welcome home beautiful, Princess of the World!" Kabarole Woman MP, Sylvia Rwabwogo posted.

Ayesiga Edward Bagonza Akiiki posted “I knew Tooro must be having a big hand in her Beauty!”

However, one Kabahuma Liz Amooti did not seem amused by the buzz. “The fact remains, she is a Ugandan, all what you're saying is of no help,” she said.

The Fort Portal Municipality MP Alex Ruhunda hosted the beauty Queen and praised her for fighting teenage pregnancy.

“This Christmas came with good surprises including hosting Miss World Africa Quinn Abenakyo at my home in Fort Portal. She shares Tooro blood and indeed she came to visit her Grandies together with her mum. I loved her zeal to overcome teenage pregnancies in Uganda and Africa at large,” Ruhunda posted on his face book page.

“I tasked her with a duty to promote Fort Portal Tourism City. Thanks for coming to your mother City and look forward to working with her to transform our people,”

Ruhunda posted several pictures where he is posing with Abenakyo.
