Magara takes over Makerere council, but who is she?

Magara will be at the helm of the university council until December 2022.


Lorna Magara has been appointed the new chairperson of the Makerere University Council. She will serve from December 20, 2018 to December 19, 2022

But who is she? 


She holds: 

  • A Bachelor of Arts with Education from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda 

  • A Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Management from Uganda Christian University Mukono 

  • A certificate of Oak Seed Executive Leadership Training Course from Institute of National Transformation  



  • Certificate of Servant Leadership from Sundoulous African Leaders Training Course 

  • Certificate of Attendance in training Moderators from Christian Education, Europe Swindon Uk 

She is a certified ACE administrator, ACE supervisor and Personal leadership coach. 


Work Experience    

2008-to date                

Faculty member, Institute of National Transformation (an advanced leadership Training programme) 

2008-to date                

Faculty Member, African Kingdom Business Forum (AKBF), A Consultant providing continuous personnel development services and in the designing of leadership training programmes. 

200-to date 

Faculty Member, Sundolous African Leadership Training Program (SALT), a Consultant providing continuous personnel development services and designing of leadership training programmes. 

2005-to date               

Founder and Principal, Vine International Christian Academy, a school that  provides a holistic value based education.  

2011-to date              

Director, Jubilee Dental Ltd, a Company that currently operates three dental clinics in Uganda and one in Kigali, Rwanda 

2004-to date   

Board Member, God Helps Uganda, an NGO that provides homes and 

education for the orphans and disadvantaged children in society 


Director, Destiny Consult. I worked as a Consultant providing continuous  personnel development services and designing of leadership training programmes 


Human Resource/Training Officer NSSF. I was part of the team that set up  

Development for the Organisation  which transformed the National Social Security  

and established the Training Department as well as Manpower Planning  and 


Fund into a dynamic and competitive organization on the Uganda market today.
