Evangelical Orthodox Catholic leader expected in Uganda today

Patriarch Jerold Gliege, the Evangelical Orthodox Catholic (EOC)'s global leader is expected to Jet in today evening.

 According to the EOC Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka, Gliege will be on pastoral visit where he will traverse 20 church centers in eastern Uganda that is under his jurisdiction.

Kibuuka said the global leader while on course of visit may also visit President Yoweri Museveni. This is the third time that the leader will be in Uganda. His first time was February 2017 and June in the same year was his second time.

"He may meet the President for some talks as the head of faith on international basis. He is going to meet Christians in the centers we have opened in eastern Uganda such as Kaliro, Namutumba, Namulembe among many others," said Kibuuka.

Kibuuka said the visit is also aimed at bringing consolidation and objective evidence that his church is not Roman Catholic but rather Evangelic Orthodox Catholic church.

"As he is making a pastoral visit in Africa, he is coming to Uganda to look at the challenges we have as church and we sit together and devise means on how best we can handle them. He will also preach during the course of Divine Liturgy at MAMRE prayer center in Namugongo on Sunday," said Kibuuka.

Rose Mugisha, the bishop's office secretary explained that Gliege who is based in Saskatoon a city in Canada will travel to Kenya before returning back home. However, she said, the global leader will also hold meeting with EOC clergy in Namugongo prior to his journey to Kenya.

She asked the members of the church to come together and welcome the leader. EOC has similar churches in Nigeria, Burundi among other countries.

"Our church members should come in big numbers for this event and at the end of year

( December 31), we shall have an overnight here," she said.
