Uganda kickboxing sensation Umar ‘The Pain' Semata will immediately embark on serious training for his K-1 Championship title fight next year after returning to the country on Sunday.

After outclassing self-made Moses Golola in the ‘Night of Champions' fight held just over two weeks ago at Freedom City, Semata took on Thailand's Santon Canison in the Kunlun Combat League in China where he also emerged victorious to qualify for the $100,000 (Shs380m) K-1 Championship Title fight due April 2019 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA.

Pemba said next year's fight will not only benefit Semata but open doors for even other Ugandan boxers and kickboxers.

"Details of the Las Vegas fight are still "in the pipeline," but I will now start preparations ahead of the fight," Semata said on return.

"The first fight will involve Semata and will be launched on December 15. But more athletes will have chances as long as they qualify for these fights," Pemba, who wants more fighters in China said.

Semata has braved the cold in China since late October but briefly returned home to shape up for the slightly warmer weather in Thailand where he will intensify his training for three months starting January ahead of his trip to Las Vegas.
