KAMPALA - Proline picked their first win in the 2018/2019 FUFA Big League following their 3-1 win over Ntinda United on Thursday evening at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

Prior to the Thursday game, Proline had settled for a goalless draw with Kitara FC in their first game of the league last week in the Rwenzori group.

Ivan Bogere notched a hattrick for Proline in a new branded league that was taken over by  China’s multinational media company; StarTimes, while James Wambedde scored a consolation for Ntinda United.

StarTimes took over the broadcasting rights of the league worth $80,000 (sh300m) every season.

Elsewhere, Wakiso Giants settled to a 1-1 draw with JMC Hippos away in Jinja in the Elgon group.

This was Wakiso Giants’second game without a win after playing to end with a 2-2 draw with Amuka Bright Stars last week.

Ibrahim Nsimbe had given the home side a lead before Ivan Kiweewa leveled matters for the Wakiso Giants.

The FUFA Big League is a second tier played by different teams from eight regions.

At the end of every season, leaders in both groups (Rwenzori and Elgon) qualify automatically to the topflight while the second and third team in each of the groups goes in the playoffs to decide the third team that makes it to the topflight league.
