Prossy Nakubera scored six times but could not help her team Alphoenix Ladies avoid a 6-8 defeat to Katuuso Community as the National Beach Soccer League got underway over the weekend at Mutoola Resort Beach in Ntenjeru, Mukono district.

Alphoenix however walloped Ghetto Kids 15-4 in their second game of the day.

Elsewhere, in the men's category, last season's runners-up KIU thrashed MS Sand 7-1 while St Lawrence beat Stormers 8-6.

Isabeti are the men's defending champions while Muteesa 1 Royal University are the defending women's champions.

This year's league will be played at three different venues; Mutoola Resort Beach, Lido Beach and Spennah Beach.
