Three perish in Masaka highway accident

Reports indicate that a speeding commuter taxi registration number UBE 689B from Kyotera to Kampala lost control after its front tyre burst. It overturned many times.

Three perished while many were injured after an accident that took place this morning at Kalandazi on the Masaka-Kampala highway.

Reports indicate that a speeding commuter taxi resgistration number UBE 689B from Kyotera to Kampala lost control after its front tyre burst. It overturned many times.

The driver took off according to eye witnesses, while the injured were rushed to Gombe and Nkozi hospitals.

According to the Police, although eyewitnesses say the tyre burst, an element of reckless driving could have led to the accident.

There have been several accidents on Masaka highway, prompting the Police to intervene and mount check points at different locations on the stretch between Nsangi in Wakiso district to Mbarara.

Seven people died and six others were seriously injured in a fatal accident that occurred on July 30 at Kampiringisa, in Kamengo sub-county on Kampala -Masaka highway at around 3:00pm.
