KAMWENGE - Residents of Byakasanga village in Kahunge sub-county, Kamwenge district are puzzled after their former chairman refused to hand over office.

Two weeks since his defeat Moses Magoba has since refused to hand over office and the stamp to Herbert Kabeseza.

“I cannot hand over my stamp because that is where I have been earning money for a living including paying school fees for my children am going to continue working and I will not vacate the small office which we had rented in the village,” Magoba said.

Over 200 villagers on Tuesday held an impromptu meeting at the sub-county headquarters with an aim of convincing Magoba to hand over the stamp but in vain.

“There is nobody who can convince me to hand over my stamp now days I have started moving with it in my pockets because they can steal it that is my life,” Magoba added.

Residents accuse Magoba of conniving with criminals in the village and aiding the thefts of cattle in the near areas.

“We didn’t vote for him because of the allegations labeled against him and he has refused to hand over the stamp and the office keys a section of some few people in the village still reorganise him even after we voted him out,” said Musinguzi Agaba, a resident of Kyakanyemera.

Residents resolved to petition the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Elijah Biryabarema over the conduct of Magoba since it’s posing a security threat to the locals.

“We have resolved to ask the district police commander and the RDC to compel him to hand over or else we shall raid his home and get the stamp by force,” Musinguzi said.
